DUPLICATIONS IN JOSEPHUS
My impression has been for a long while that either Josephus or a later reviser used this as a favourite device, sometimes so as reconcile dates, sometimes so as to obscure what had actually happened, and sometimes as two alternative guesses at where something belonged. You can see this plainly in the duplication of the High Priest Simon, at the end of the Persian period and start of the Greek period.
